Yissochor & Zevulun β An Eternal Partnership
The Yissochor-Zevulun arrangement has its origins in the prototype partnership that existed between these two shevotim. It is brought l'halacha by the Tur and Shulchan Aruch and was practiced and strongly advocated by the great poskim and rabbonim throughout the generations.
It is halachically binding just as any legal transaction, with real and eternal results in Heaven. Not only does the supporting partner earn a share of the schar, he also gains the actual Torah knowledge and depth of understanding achieved by his beneficiary partner.
Maran Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman zt"l determined that the members of Bais Medrash Taharos are those truly called "lomdim l'shem Shamayim," as described by Rabbeinu Yonah in Iggeres HaTeshuvah. Supporting them is an immense and rare zechus.
